Matthew R. Brown, Owner & President

From a very young age, Matthew Brown was always interested in working with heavy equipment, and as a teenager he lived on a family ranch in Wyoming where he learned his most valuable lesson of having a strong work ethic. Matthew then returned to his hometown of Battle Creek, Michigan where he graduated from Pennfield High School.

 

After high school, Matthew decided to try out the trucking industry and graduated from CDI in South Bend, Indiana, and satisfied his desire to explore our country by driving through all of the lower 48 states. Then in 2005 after Hurricane Katrina, he was recruited to participate in the disaster relief efforts in New Orleans, which included working with a team of eight trucks hauling storm debris out of the city. He also had the opportunity to assist the Army Corps of Engineers with strengthening and rebuilding damaged levees. After a short time, Matthew started to focus more on environmental projects and soon began to manage teams of other skilled tradesmen in rebuilding not just the city of New Orleans, but also the state of Louisiana, including environmental dredging and coastal restoration projects.

 

After eight years in Louisiana, Matthew relocated to New York to begin working on one of the country’s largest environmental clean-ups on the Hudson River, acting as a project superintendent and operations manager, overseeing large teams and multi-million dollar projects. Then in 2014, he decided to take a leap of faith led by his knowledge of the trucking industry, and start his own business with co-owner Alison Rodman. His extensive experience in logistics and management makes his role as President of J & J Brown Carriers a perfect fit.

Alison F. Rodman, Owner & Vice President

Alison Rodman is a Westfield, New Jersey native and proud graduate of University of Maryland, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in English. Alison started her career in luxury goods public relations and branding, and was the Director of Marketing for an international design firm by the age of 24. She then spent over 10 years in fashion as a personal & editorial wardrobe stylist, writer and television host.

 

She founded both her own wardrobe consulting company and the popular online magazine Stylewhipped.com, and made regular appearances on Sirius XM Radio and Fox News as a fashion and trend expert. Alison’s styling work has appeared on magazine covers, NYC theater stages & red carpets, and she has served as an international brand ambassador.

 

In 2014, Alison was thrilled to join Matthew as a co-owner of J & J Brown Carriers, where she brings a well-developed eye for branding, vast experience in marketing & publicity, and her passion for any entrepreneurial endeavor.
